ANTON HOWLETT

I was born in Ireland, but grew up in a house by the sea on the south coast of England, surrounded by antiques, paintings and horses!
Our home was always full of interesting things in various stages of restoration and construction. My father worked in his workshop restoring antiques for collectors and dealers and my mother, an artist, painted pictures and dragged me around every museum, art gallery and stately home in the area!
My father, Jeff Howlett, graduated in 1990 from West Dean College, furniture restoration course, and when I was young I began helping him in the workshop. I hated school and just wanted to learn woodwork skills and restoration! By the time I was thirteen I was already selling items I’d made. Skimboards and rounders bats for my friends, bedside tables and stools, and started buying antiques to restore and sell.
I loved designing and making my own furniture and later went to college to complete a course in furniture design and cabinet making. I began designing and making furniture for clients while continuing in the family restoration business, working on many important and prestigious antique pieces for collectors and dealers.
Pemberley Antiguedades
In 2003 the family (and horses) moved to Spain and started the business Pemberley Antiguedades, antique sales and restoration.
I started making and designing furniture here in Spain, working with clients to make bespoke furniture and I continued restoring furniture, in what became a very busy workshop.
My parents are now retired, and today, I have my own workshop and showroom in Xaló/ Jalon, Alicante, where I continue designing, making and restoring furniture for clients and have a selection of furniture for sale.
